Conclusion of UIIF stage 3

The project will benefit more than 7.5 million vulnerable people in the 10 cities included in the project.
During this workshop, the consultancies presented the phase different and scopes corresponding to the delimitation stage for decision-making. We also worked on the progress of urban analyze risks and the assessments that were delivered to the municipalities. This workshop marked the term of Component 2 and the start of Component 3 in the project roadmap.
The municipal participants presented the main challenges they have been faced in the process of selection of the infrastructure to ensure, while they received an update on the filling of the social assessment tool, an essential document for the international development banks, such as the German Development Bank (KfW), which provides the financing of this project, in in identification of identification of environmental and social risks.
The bilateral feedback sessions with each of the city particular teams provided useful for all parties, as they allowed for a focus on the specificities of participating city, facilitated the understanding of the use of new or different terminology in the main areas of knowledge, as well providing recommendations for the implementation of insurance and specific identifying needs.
During the workshop, the INECC given a presentation, in which which Mexican cities were able to learn about the lines of action promoted by the federal government in the new NDC, with the aim of developing the same line of work and moving towards a common goal in terms of adaptation to climate change.
The project will allow progress towards a scenario in which to pay scenario can offer a viable solution for climate risk management, by facilitating risk transfer mechanisms and financial solutions with fast payments that allow for timely recovery after disasters, as well as assistance for vulnerable populations.
